Jamie Kern Lima is a self-made American entrepreneur and former journalist. She is the co-founder and CEO of the cosmetics line company, IT Cosmetics.
She is also known for appearing in the first season of the reality show Big Brother and then working as a reporter for KNDU and KPTV.

Childhood, Education & Early Work :

Jamie was born on July 16, 1977, in San Rafael, California. She was given up for adoption and was raised by her adoptive parents. She later moved to Des Moines, Washington.
She graduated from Washington State University in 1999. She was considering a career in finance but decided to take a risk.

In 1999, she was dared to submit an application to be a member of the first season of the reality show “Big Brother,” and surprisingly, it was accepted. She was the fourth last person and the last woman to be eliminated from the show.
Later, she also attended Columbia Business School and graduated with an MBA. It was here that she met her to-be husband Paulo Lima in a statistics class. At Columbia, Jamie’s peers chose her to be the class speaker of her graduating year.
After a successful stint in “Big Brother,” Jamie became a reporter. She did love her job and telling stories but knew it was not the right long-term job for her.

Jamie grew tired of constant critiques about her appearance and skin since she has rosacea, a skin condition that made large red blotches appear on her skin. She quit her job before lining up anything after it.

After quitting her job as a reporter, Jamie decided to build a career out of her biggest obsession, Makeup. She realized that there is a shortage of products in the market aimed at helping people with skin conditions.

In 2008, she started her company, IT Cosmetics with her husband Paulo Lima and worked day in and out.
The couple started in their living room and went one product at a time. Their early marketing strategies just revolved around women who reviewed their products and spread the word. They finally got a ten-minute slot on QVC and sold out six thousand units of their concealer.
The company then started showing promise with a rapid increase in profits. It caught the attention of the business giant L’Oreal and in August 2016, the company made Jamie an offer, 1.2 billion in cash!

Jamie accepted the offer and remained as the CEO while also pocketing a cool $410 Million after taxes as IT Cosmetics’ majority owner. Jamie was the first woman CEO in L’Oreal in its 108 years old history! She left L’Oreal in August 2019.
After her stupendous business success, Jamie has appeared on several popular shows like TODAY Show, Rachael Ray, Extra!, and E! News etc.
In February 2021, she released her book, Believe IT: How to Go from Underestimated to Unstoppable which soon became the #1 Bestseller on Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and USA Today.

As a teenager, Jamie held four jobs at once. She worked as a receptionist during weekdays, gymnastics coach on weeknights, sold popcorn at local swap meets and bagged groceries on the weekends.
