- Master Shi Heng Yi is a martial artist, motivational coach and speaker and the headmaster of the Shaolin Temple Europe in Otterberg, Germany.
- Being a new age monk, Master Yi carries a smartphone in the layers of his robes. He sees no conflict between ancient knowledge and modern technology. As per him, finding the right balance is the law of the universe for being accomplished and happy at the same time.

- His elder brother is four years older than him, and the Yi family spent several years in a refugee camp in Laos before arriving in Germany.

- After finishing university, Master Shi became a Shaolin 5 Master disciple in 2001. He earned this title after training at the Shaolin Temple Europe in Otterberg, Germany.
- As the youngest master in the temple’s history, Shi focused mainly on developing Shaolin knowledge and culture while teaching aspiring students various aspects of spirituality and discipline.
- Nine years after becoming a Shaolin disciple, Master Yi became the Administrative Head and Leading Master of the Shaolin Temple Europe, in 2010. He also made the decision to continue living at the temple full-time. He serves as the Leading Headmaster as of 2023.
- Master Shi Heng Yi is also a public speaker who has given several talks across Europe and the world including a TED talk in 2020.

I find the videos of Master Shi Heng li wonderfully inspiring. I am a Sufi Sheikh in an old Turkish Order, and am used to receiving the wisest of instruction from other Sufi Masters. But my admiration for the wisdom of Master Shi Heng Li has really given me incredible hope at a time of crisis in my life when my own immediate spiritual context doen not seem to be working as it usually ought to. The fault is with me of course, but I am greatly inspired and have started to structure my days around reviewing the lifestyle I am leading. You may publish this, and please let Master Shi Heng Li know of my great wish to come to study with him for an extended period in Germany, if that could be arranged.

It is disappointing that he is not interested in that portion of life. Of course that is simply because it means the chances of me being able to go for a walk with him is likely not to happen. An that makes me feel lonely some kind of way.
