Kim grew up in North Carolina.
She is married to her husband Franklin and has three children – two daughters, Hannah and Madeleine & one son, Frank. The family also a dog called Finley.

Kim attended the North Carolina State University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology.
From 1996 – 1999, she was the On-Air Meteorologist for ABC 11 Eyewitness News in Durham, North Carolina.
Later, Kim became the Weekend On-Air Meteorologist for WRAL-TV, an NBC affiliate in Raleigh, NC.

Currently, she is a traffic reporter for WTVD in Raleigh, NC. Since joining the team in March 2018, she sometimes works as a fill-in Meteorologist as well.
