She is most well-known for her work in the broadcasting industry & has worked on several Chicago-based TV networks over her career. After a stint at fiction acting, Alegria returned to her hometown and resumed her original profession.

Michelle is a first-generation American, born to Mexican parents who immigrated to America and brought up their family in Melrose Park, Illinois.
After ten years of reporting in Chicago, Michelle moved to LA to pursue a career in film and television acting.

Alegria has three children – Two daughters, Fiona and Sofia, and a son, CJ, with whom she currently resides in Chicago with their pet dog and cat, Cashie.

Growing up in Illinois, Alegria was a pageant contestant & even won Miss Latina Illinois.
As a teenager, she attended Trinity High School in River Forest, Illinois. After graduating, she continued her education at Columbia College.

Alegria began her career as a news reporter in Chicago, clocking in around 10 years of experience on WLS Channel 7, 190 North. Here she gained experience doing weather, news and radio reporting.
After a decade at Channel 7, she moved to WFLD Channel 32. She became the traffic reporter on Good Morning Chicago.
Believing that it is never too late to reinvent yourself, Michelle decided to take her career in another direction & started pursuing a career in acting!

After spending the first one & a half year in training and attending many auditions, Michelle went on to appear in a number of adverts and TV series, including reccurring roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Castle. During this time she also landed small parts in films such as The Bling Ring (2013) and It’s Dark Here (2013). Her latest appearances in film were in 2015, when she appeared in Mia, a short film and in Stockholm Pennsylvania. Since then, she has still appeared on the television show Castle, with her latest appearance being in 2016.
In 2013, Alegria appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live as a weather girl.
In 2017, after living in Los Angeles for almost a decade to pursue her acting career, Alegria moved back to Chicago.

Since January 2018, Michelle is working for Fox 32 Chicago, where she also worked before her move to Los Angeles.

Even though Alegria’s career branched from news reporting into acting for films and television, the roles Alegria played were often news reporters and news desk anchors.

Michelle is a big fan of hiking and fencing. While living in Los Angeles, she had cut down on junk food and would often go running on the beach.
