Sylvia Dale, known legally as Sylvia Dale Mason and sometimes referred to as Sylvia Cochran, was a successful sales analyst that was married to the famous celebrity lawyer Johnnie Cochran. Although now retired, Dale did a lot in her field and remained a treasured companion to the late lawyer for many years.

- By the 1980s, Dale had already worked her way into high positions in the corporate world. She was working with companies such as Mattel, famous for its revolutionary toy brand ‘Barbie’; and also big automotive companies like Nissan and Toyota.
- Foreign brands, in particular, would use Sylvia’s skills to find the best ways to advertise to the American market.

- By the early 2000s, Dale had taken her marketing career a step further and expanded into the world of news, which was still the most popular way to advertise. She took her expertise to airports and bought several newsstands, then let publishers pay her to use them for advertising.
- The constant airport traffic and the long wait for the passengers meant that Dale’s stands were the ideal location for publishers, and her business soon thrived.
- In 2004, however, Dale put her business on hold so that she’d be able to spend more time at home with her husband, who had fallen very ill. By 2005, she had essentially abandoned her business altogether as she helped him through his final months.
- Johnnie L. Cochran, Sr., Johnnie’s dad passed away in 2018, at the age of 101.

- Sylvia Dale has been depicted in the FX network series ‘The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story’ by a young actress. Dale’s character does have a few minutes of role in the series, mostly depicting incidents in Johnnie’s personal life.
- Tiffany Cochran, Johnnie’s daughter criticized the show saying that Johnnie’s character was more exaggerated & did not reflect his true personality.
