- Claude Tex McIver, a partner at one of the city’s most prestigious law firms, a Republican loyalist whose money and privilege protected him throughout life. Tex’s life was blown away when he was accused of murdering his wife, the businesswoman Diane McIver.

- The McIver case is extremely murky as it goes. Tex was traveling with his wife on the evening of September 25, 2016.
- The couple was coming back home from dinner along with Diane’s friend Dani Jo Carter. As the locality was rough, Tex asked for the loaded pistol, which went off in his hands, fatally shooting Diane.

- Another serious accusation against him was that he made demands of his PR guy to offer a bribe to Paul Howard, the District Attorney of Fulton County.
- News claimed that at the time of death, Tex owed his wife $350,000.
- He was also in the news for selling his late wife’s properties, including clothing, jewelry, hats, furs, and other possessions, at an estate sale that lasted several days and drew thousands of people.

- Though initially charged with manslaughter, Tex’s charges were modified and made more stringent and upgraded to murder only later.
- In May 2019, Tex headed to the Appeals Court with the idea of dismissing the wrongful death lawsuit filed by his late wife’s estate.
- Though he was the ex-cursor for his wife’s estate, he was removed in the year 2017.
