Dr. Seema Yasmin is a British Indian doctor. She is also a journalist and a professor, as well as the director of the ‘Stanford Health Initiative’ at Stanford University.

  • Dr. Seema Yasmin was born in April 1982, in London, England. Her mother, Yasmin Halima, was born in India but moved to England at a young age. Yasmin had an arranged marriage with Seema’s dad and gave birth to Seema when she was nineteen years old.
  • When Seema was seven years old, her parents separated. Yasmin Halima moved to London to continue her education and Seema went with her and grew up in the city. Her aunt also had a great influence on her upbringing.
  • After Seema graduated from high school, she attended the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), where she graduated with first-class honors in a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.
  • She then attended the University of Cambridge from 2005 to 2009 and became a Doctor of Medicine.

  • Seema met the man who would become her husband, Emmanuel Farrugia when they were both seventeen years old.

  • Emmanuel and Seema initially settled in Dallas, Texas. On December 26, 2015, a tornado swept through the state and destroyed their house while Emmanuel and Yasmin Halima were there. They were both unharmed. Seema was on a trip to Liberia at the time
