Initially, she attended the university as a Biology student, but after experimenting with science, psychology, Italian, and computer science, she finally decided to pursue a degree in mathematics.

When Holly decided to major in Mathematics, she made a conscious and intentional choice to work as a record store clerk & bartender to maintain her social life and be around ‘normal’ people that she found more interesting than her academic peers.
She went on to further her education and earned a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

Holly is now a Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, as well as the Director of Studies and Fellow in Maths at Murray Edwards College. Murray Edwards College is one of the few women-only colleges in Cambridge.
Her current research interests are in the ever-growing field of arithmetic dynamics, which involves the studies of the relationship between dynamics of one complex variable and the arithmetic geometry of abelian varieties.
Holly has been invited along to speak at a number of public talks – in 2016, she was a panel member for ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity’ discussion at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

She also did a talk for LMS Girls on Mathematics Day and was Project Leader for ‘Women in Numbers 4’ in Banff, Canada.
In 2017, she spoke at the John Adams Institute in Amsterdam.

Krieger has appeared in several episodes on the YouTube Channel ‘Numberphile,’ an entire platform dedicated to numbers and mathematical revelations. The channel has a whopping subscriber count of more than 3-million.
