Introduction :
Sometimes controversial, sometimes celebrated for her writing topics, Bethany Mandel is currently a young conservative American writer on politics and culture and is also the owner of the company ‘My Bliss Birth Bag’.
Personal Life, Parents and Family Details :
- Bethany was born and brought up in Rochester, New York. Her maiden name was Bethany Shondark.
- She was raised alone by her mother while her father played little part in her upbringing. Her mother died when she was 16 due to being infected by the disease Lupus. Three years later, her father had also committed suicide due to his inability to cope with his addiction to Opioid painkillers.
- She had local guardians chosen by her mother, but they took most of her inheritance after her mother’s death.
- Happiness in her personal life returned when she got engaged & subsequently married Seth Mandel in the year 2011. Seth Mandel, like Bethany, works as a writer and editor for various magazines and newspapers. He is currently the Managing Editor at ‘The Jewish State.’
- It was when she was riding on an elephant in Laos that she realized she had feelings for Seth!
- They have three children together, namely, Cookie (born in 2013), Pat (born in 2015) & the last one born in 2017.

- Bethany did her high schooling at two different schools. From 2002 to 2004, she was at L’Institut De Notre Dame Heusy in Belgium, where she studied as Rotary International Exchange Student. She lived with two Francophone families & attended school for one year. There, she achieved fluency in French.
- From 2003 to 2004, she attended Beacon High School in New York City.
- After school, she attended Rutgers University from 2005 to 2008, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in History and Jewish Studies. There, she was the recipient of the ‘Alexander and Ruth Seaman Scholarship’ from the Jewish Studies Department. She also received Rudolph and Mary Solomon Klein Student Award for academic achievement.
- In addition, she was awarded ‘Frances Stafford Peshine scholarship’ for academic excellence by Rutger School of Arts & Science.
- In the midst of her graduation in 2006, she had attended a summers program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for intensive study of the Hebrew language.
Career and Profession : Salary and Net Worth
- Bethany’s first professional break was as a Development Assistant at Washington Hebrew Congregation from years 2008 to 2009.
- From June 2009 to June 2010, she taught all the subjects to 5th-grade students at Jay Pritzker Academy, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
- After that, she worked as ‘Online Membership Assistant’ at ‘The Heritage Foundation’ for 1 year in Washington, DC.
- From there, she went on to work for three years as a Social Media Associate in ‘Commentary’ magazine.
- Finally, in January 2014, she left the organization to work as a freelance writer based in New Jersey. As a freelancer, she has written for The Federalist, The New York Post, The New York Observer, The Jewish Daily Forward, IJ Review, and many others. In the meantime, she also made several media appearances.
- She has been named in the list of ‘Forward 50’ in 2015 for activism related to work with Orthodox Jewish conversion.
- In 2015, she entered the world of Entrepreneurship by opening her own company ‘My Bliss Birth Bag,’ which caters to soon-to-deliver pregnant moms and negates them from worrying about what essentials they need to pack before going to the hospital to give birth.
Interesting Facts, Height and Trivia :
- Bethany gave birth to her third child in a Nissan Altima car en route to the hospital. Her husband was driving the car and speaks of the incident as both traumatizing and miraculous.
- She registered herself as an Organ Donor in the year 2013’ the same year her first daughter was born.
- She has a tattoo which she had engraved in the year 2006.
- Bethany loves traveling! She traveled through the whole of Europe when she was in high school. Although, she is not able to do so currently due to her continuous engagement with her three toddlers.
