She graduated in 2018, and on her graduation day, she took the rifle and the photo that made her famous.
The campus rules prohibited staff, professors, and students from having deathly weapons on campus. However, guests and visitors were allowed to carry weapons.
So once Kaitlin graduated & was no longer a student, she could legally carry weapons herself, and the very same day she graduated, she took her rifle to the graduation. Her graduation cap read “come and take it” and had a rifle painted on it in white.

Kaitlin filmed this initiative to show the ignorance on the subject and how people have called said rifle illegal, believing the AR stands for Automatic rifle.

FYI automatic rifles are LEGAL in the US. There is just a lot of paperwork and money involved.
