An alumna of the Australian National University, she studied Indonesian and Malay history for four years & also studied for two years, various languages such as Javanese, basic Arabic and Minangkabau.

On 25th January 2013, Miriam Margolyes was sworn in by the Aussie Prime Minister as an Australian citizen at the Parliament House.

Being Jewish, Miriam refrained from coming out to her parents since they ridiculed gay people. It was not until she was about 27 years old that she told her mother that she was gay who later went ahead to tell her father. Her parents then made her swear that she would not enter into a relationship with a woman ever again.
The couple’s only fear is that one of them will die before one other, something that is bound to happen. Miriam known for her humour, adds that if they have a suicide pact, they can avoid it, but she knows Heather will not agree to it!
